The 2nd EUSALP Annual Forum will take place on 20 and 21 November 2018 in the heart of the Alps at the Congress Innsbruck. The event, jointly organised by the Tyrolean EUSALP Presidency and the European Commission Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, will address the motto "shaping.future.together. with the next generation".

The European Commission, together with the actual President of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP), the Tyrol, invite young people aged from 16 to 25 years to take part in the youth competition “Your Alps! Your Future! Your Idea” with a project idea that conceives the Alps as a modern, attractive and sustainable living space.

Five project ideas will be selected and then presented in the form of a pitch to the EU decision-makers during the EUSALP 2nd Annual Forum “shaping.future.together. with the next generation”. The three best projects selected by the audience will receive a financial support for their implementation.

Alliance dans les Alpes France organise un voyage d'etude sur la thématique " Quelles transitions pour nos territoires alpins? " du 12 au 14 Septembre 2018 de Guillestre (Hautes-Alpes) à Ostana (Italie). Ce sera l'occasion de s'interronger et échanger sur les diverses transitions (écologique, économique, sociale et sociétale) qui prennent place dans les territoires alpins. Les réflexions prendront une dimension européenne et s’appuieront sur les possibilités offertes par l’Europe pour les territoires alpins. Une partie du voyage se déroulera dans le village italien d’Ostana qui est devenu un exemple en matière de transitions.

La France des grans lacs - des réservatoirs de la biodiversité : Après le lac d'Annecy en 2012, le lac de Sainte-Croix du Verdon en 2014, les lacs de la Forêt d'Orient accueillent le 3e colloque du Conservatoire du littoral.

The 8th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks "Geoparks and sustainable development " will take place at the Adamello Brenta UNESCO Global Geopark,  Trentino Province, Italy, from the 11th to the 14th September 2018.The Conference will be held at the Palacampiglio Conference Centre in Madonna di Campiglio at the heart of the Geopark.

It will be an unique opportunity for all participants to share their experiences, networking and exchange innovative and best local practices.

Beside the Conference sessions, thematic workshops will be organised in collaboration with the relevant GGN Working groups. As usual, in the course of the Conference, one day is dedicated to the mid-conference field trip: participants can choose one of six available options to become familiar with the specific geological, natural and cultural characteristics of the Adamello Brenta UNESCO Global Geopark.

GaYA's Youth Participation Toolbox was developed to answer the question on how to effectively engage young people in decision-making processes for the future of the Alps. It was created in the frame of the Interreg Alpine Space project GaYA - Governance and Youth in the Alps. The Toolbox highlights different approaches of youth participation to meet the needs of both young people and politicians. It also addresses the need to adapt the participatory process to the local level.

Therefore, GaYA's Youth Participation Toolbox provides insights, clarify terms and concepts, showcase participatory methods, inspire and motivate. The toolbox presents a selection of case studies, with templates and cards to create your own participation processes and to suggest solutions to some frequent problems.

The 4th edition of Youth at the Top took place on the 12th and the 13th of July 2018 in 44 destinations of the Alps and the Carpathians. The event brought together more than 530 young people and had Climate Change as the topic of a common thematic aciton. The two days spent in the mountains were also animated with diverse activities: collecting drinking water and edible and medicinal plants along the way, bathing in the cool rivers, making campfires, watching the stars, and many others!

The 4th edition of the project is led by ALPARC – The Alpine Network of Protected Areas, with the financial support of the German Ministry of the Environment and the Principality of Monaco.

The new edition of eco.mont - Journal of protected mountain areas research is now available!

The journal is aimed at scientists, managers of protected areas and interested individuals on research and management issues related to protected areas in the Alps and other protected mountain areas. It is on its 10th anniversary and was founded as a joint initiative by the Alpine Network of Protected Areas (ALPARC), the International Scientific Committee on Research in the Alps (ISCAR), the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) and the University of Innsbruck.

eco.mont is published twice a year as a collaboration of the Austrian Academy of Sciences Press and Innsbruck University Press

The mid-term conference of the Interreg Alpine Space project ALPBIONET2030 will take place in Berchtesgaden, (Berchtesgaden National Park - Germany), July 02 -03, 2018.

During the conference the first project intermediate results for the development of a sound cartography on ecological connectivity for the Alpine arc will be presented.

All project partners, observers and large public are invited.

Per il settimo anno consecutivo il mese di giugno in Valle Camonica sarà interamente dedicato alla riflessione sul tema di Alpi e sostenibilità attraverso gli assi portanti di ambiente, società, economia. Torna la Fiera della Sostenibilità nella Natura Alpina, il contenitore di eventi e iniziative del Parco dell'Adamello - Comunità Montana di Valle Camonica con le aree protette di Rete Natura di Valle Camonica e la collaborazione del Distretto Culturale di Valle Camonica e Sapori di Valle Camonica.

The importance of educating the young generation about sustainable developed is addressed in the new publication “T-KIT 13 - Sustainability and youth work (2018)”.  

To support young people to understand and adopting more sustainable lifestyle, the manual includes information about the issues related to sustainability, educational activities that will familiarise learners with some of the problems facing the globe and encourage them to discuss solutions.

The publication is designed primarily for youth workers and educators to introduce the topic of sustainability to young people in a non-formal setting. 

This publication is part of a series of “T-kits” tools, a product of a partnership between the European Commission and the Council of Europe in the field of youth.
